Quizlo (quizlo.co.uk) is made by Ki10 Games Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15687835), registered office 41 Torwood Road, Chadderton, Oldham, England, OL9 0RA. We're responsible for your information when you use Quizlo. Questions about privacy: [email protected].
When you join, you give a name and pick an emoji or take a selfie. Your name, picture, answers and reactions are sent to the TV screen hosting the game, so everyone can see them there. They pass through our connection server (run on Cloudflare), which doesn't store them. To keep each game code belonging to one TV, the server remembers the code, a random number for that TV and when it was last seen, for up to 2 days.
If our connection server can't be reached, phones connect directly to the TV instead, with help from the free PeerJS servers (0.peerjs.com), which see your device's internet address so they can link the devices.
We can't see any of this. Clear it at any time in your browser's settings (or reset the league from the quiz master page).
If you tap Share a link, the quiz (questions, pictures, music and videos) is stored on Cloudflare for up to a year so the link works. Anyone with the link can open it.
Searches in the Quiz Writer go through our server to Openverse, Wikimedia Commons, Deezer, Apple (iTunes), the Internet Archive, GIPHY and Pixabay. Those services see the words searched for and our server, not who you are.
Reading aloud uses your device's own voice. Some browsers (for example Chrome's online voices) send the text to the browser maker to turn it into speech. Casting to a Chromecast uses Google's Cast software.
Cloudflare, which hosts Quizlo, keeps short-lived logs (including internet addresses) to keep the site secure and working. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to each page. It doesn't use cookies or follow you around the web.
Quizlo doesn't use cookies. It uses your browser's storage only for the things listed above that you ask it to remember, such as your name.
Quizlo is a family game. We don't ask anyone's age and there are no accounts. Children under 13 should play with a grown-up, who can choose whether they use a selfie or an emoji.
Cloudflare (hosting, our connection server and shared quizzes) and the services named above. Some of them are based in the USA. Where your information goes outside the UK, it's protected by the safeguards UK law requires.
We use information to run the game and the features you choose to use, and to keep Quizlo safe and working. These are our legitimate interests under UK data protection law. We never sell it.
You can ask us what we hold about you, and to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. In practice we hold almost nothing, because it stays on your devices. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
If we change how Quizlo uses information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
